BUY WHEELS AND WHEEL SETS FOR YOUR BIKE ONLINE
It is not without reason that the invention of the wheel is considered a leap in the evolution of humanity. Even today, the bike is still a fundamental basis for mobility. Without wheels the bike is worthless. This makes it all the more important to have the right wheelset for your bike. But there are a few things to consider when choosing. Here you will find out everything you need to know about choosing the right wheelset for your bike.
In our online shop you will find wheels in the following sizes:
- 29 inch wheels
- 28 inch wheels
- 27.5 inch wheels
WHICH WHEELS ARE RIGHT FOR ME?
Not all bicycle balance bikes are the same. This becomes clear when you look at the extensive range. There are wheels in different sizes, made from different materials and with different installation widths. The selection is therefore not that easy. Bicycle wheels are best differentiated depending on their intended use.
WHEELS FOR RACING BIKES
Lightweight wheels, which almost always have a diameter of 28 inches, are preferably used on racing bikes. Because like the racing bike itself, the wheelset should also have little weight. Since the tire widths on racing bikes are between 23 and 32 mm, the rim widths are also tailored to this. As a rule, they are between 19 and 23 mm.
If you want to buy a particularly light racing bike wheelset, you should choose carbon rims. The rim height is often larger than with an aluminum rim. Both wheel sets for rim brakes and disc brakes are available for racing bikes.
However, the current trend is towards disc brakes, as there are more and more racing bikes with disc brakes. Road bike wheels can be compatible with quick release or thru axle.
Road bike wheels often have a high level of stiffness. You can also find special aero wheels in our range.
WHEELS FOR MOUNTAIN BIKES
Disc brakes have become almost completely established on mountain bikes. Almost all current models rely on disc brakes on mountain bikes. Therefore, wheels for mountain bikes can also be found primarily with disc brakes. Since the tire widths on mountain bikes are very wide, the rims are also wider than on racing bikes.
However, the widths vary enormously between the MTB disciplines. A cross country wheelset has much narrower rims than a downhill wheelset, which also affects the weight. There used to be various MTB wheels with quick releases, but currently many manufacturers rely on thru axles. Wheels for mountain bikes are available in 26; 27.5 and 29 inch size available.
WHEELS FOR GRAVEL BIKES
Gravel bike wheels are exactly between racing bikes and mountain bikes. Since tire widths between 35 and 50 mm are used for gravel riding, there is also a lot of variation in the rims. The inner jaw width can be from 21 to 27 mm. Here too, the vast majority of manufacturers rely on disc brakes. Thru axles are standard on a gravel wheelset. Flat, lightweight aluminum wheels are offered as well as gravel carbon wheels with taller rims.
IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE FRONT AND REAR WHEELS OF BALANCE BIKES?
Front and rear wheels differ in many ways. First of all, the bicycle hubs have different installation widths. For trekking bike wheels, for example , it is 100 mm at the front and 130 or 135 mm at the rear. Furthermore, there is no mount for sprockets on the front wheel and no pawls in the hub.
TO WHAT EXTENT CAN I BUY BALANCE BIKES? INDIVIDUAL PARTS / FRONT OR REAR WHEEL / WHEELSET
Wheels are often sold as a pair and therefore as a wheel set. However, individual front wheels and rear wheels can also be purchased. There are also various spare and small parts. These include, for example, quick releases and quick release axles, seals and rim tapes. If a wheel on a bicycle breaks, individual parts can also be replaced, such as spoke nipples, spokes or the entire rim. This means that all components of a wheel can be selected individually. They then need to be assembled and centered.
A bicycle balance bike consists of the following individual parts:
- hub
- spokes
- spoke nipple
- rim
- Rim tape
WHAT ELSE SHOULD YOU CONSIDER WHEN BUYING WHEELS FOR YOUR BIKE?
In addition to the specific area of application, special attention must be paid to the compatibility of a bicycle wheelset. This affects installation width, axle mount and type of brake.
The equipment with a hub dynamo should also be taken into account when making your selection. The tire width that you want to ride plays another central role when buying a bicycle wheel.
