Cervelo is a Canadian bicycle manufacturer founded in 1995 by Phil White and Gérard Vroomen with a focus on high-performance carbon road bikes.
The project, which originally began in a school basement, soon grew wings – in 1996 Cervelo produced the first production-ready carbon bicycle frame weighing less than 1 kilogram. Since then, Cervelo bikes have regularly won and placed on the podium at various major cycling races.
The Cervelo brand now belongs to the Dutch bicycle group Pon Holdings but is still the number 1 contact for racing cyclists who are looking for an exclusive high-performance road bike.
Lifetime Guarantee
Cervélo places the highest demands on the quality of its products. To underscore this, they offer a lifetime warranty on all their first-owner bike frames (covering defects that were already present at the time of delivery).
Technology
Ever since it was founded, Cervélo has been chasing after the perfect road bike: the brand’s designs are constantly being tested and continuously improved. This is done in various research institutions with the help of wind tunnels, CFD flow simulations, and computer-aided design.
Over the years, the tube shapes of the various frames have been perfected for their areas of application, which results in a certain advantage over the competition – not least because Cervelo focuses exclusively on racing bikes and invests accordingly in their development.
Cycling promotion
The intensive promotion of cycling and the sponsorship of many successful teams and elite athletes led to widespread brand awareness. For example, between 2003 and 2008 they supplied the bikes for Team CSC, which achieved various victories on Cervelo racing bikes and became an absolute top team.
In 2009, with the Cervélo TestTeam, they became the first modern bicycle manufacturer to have its own professional team at the highest level. Today they are sponsors of the traditional Team Jumbo-Visma as well as various other cycling athletes from areas such as cyclocross or triathlon.
